Abstract:

The study was carried out in the reedbed of Lake Histria, Razlem-Sinoe lagoon system, south of the Danube Delta in Romania, during the autumn period of 1991-92. During the study period, we caught 557 Paddyfield Warblers (Acrocephalus agricola) and recaptured 79 individuals. We analysed the dynamics of the migration and of the body mass. The migration of adults was faster and finished 1.5 month earlier than in the juveniles. The migration of juveniles lasted until the last days of September. The birds were very lean in both age groups and the body mass did not change during the whole period of migration. The Paddyfield Warblers spent a short time in the area without accumulating fat.
